Kurt Vonnegut: Author, artist, humanist 1922 - 2007
We mourn the loss of America's great humanist, humorist, artist and author, Kurt Vonnegut. He joined our Advisory Board in 1994 when he came to Asheville to give a benefit talk for The Writers' Workshop.
A unique video of Vonnegut's talk was made, including an illuminating Q&A with the audience, and a touching introduction by his former student and fellow author, Gail Godwin. To commemorate the Champion of Irreverence, we are offering a limited number of DVDs (or videos) for sale, as well as T-shirts designed by Asheville artist Robin Hill.
All proceeds will go towards our outreach writing programs, including at-risk youth in Appalachia.
Please note: We also have DVDs/videos for sale from our Distinguished Authors Series, featuring: Eudora Welty and Reynolds Price; John le Carre; Don De Lillo; Peter Matthiessen with El. L. Doctorow, Gail Godwin and Helen Henslee; Yevgeny Yevtushenko; Mark Mathabane; Lee Smith; Alex Haley; Peter Taylor; William Kinsella; Clyde Edgerton; Pat Conroy; Bobbie Ann Mason; and our Trail of Tears Commemorative with John Ehle and Dee Brown.
