Mike Tuohy of Jefferson, GA, is a long-time member of The Writers’ Workshop of Asheville. He has won numerous awards for his works. By Invitation Only, a story he co-authored with Celeste Woody, was included in the Scribes Valley Publishing contest. The story is based on Woody’s encounter with serial killer Ted Bundy and her invitation from the state of Florida to witness his execution. This story has been recognized in 7 competitions in 3 countries, starting with The Writers’ Workshop’s 2011 Meet the Authors competition. Tuohy got to meet Peter Matthiessen and E.L. Doctorow in NY with other contest winners.
Tuohy’s politically speculative story, Fantasy Cabinet, appears in the debut issue of 500 Miles Magazine.
Two of his stories appear in the Winston-Salem Writers 2017 anthology, Flying South #4. Another story, Double Nickel Jackpot, was a finalist for the Welsh AmeriCymru Prize

Randolph Shaffner of Highlands, NC has been a member and supporter of the Writers' Workshop for many years. He has won several awards for his works, including the History Book Award from NC Society of Historians for First Creation: 100 Years of Land Conservation in 2016. In addition to his writing, Shaffner has also won several awards for his multimedia works about the history of the Highlands.
Shaffner has authored and contributed to over a dozen historical works. He founded Faraway Publishing in Highlands, NC.
He co-founded the re-activated Highlands Historical Society, which he serves as archivist. He also co-founded the Highlands Plateau Greenway, which he serves as president and trail supervisor.
