Our retreat is informal, friendly and supportive. We usually limit to about 8 people who are experienced writers and want constructive feedback on their works in progress (fiction, non-fiction and memoirs). We'll meet for six sessions to review our writing and get helpful feedback from the group. We’ll cover fiction, nonfiction, memoirs, and self-editing.
The retreat facilitator, Karen Ackerson, has led the retreat for 15 years. As Senior Editor at The Renbourne Agency (renbourne.com), she will also cover self-editing techniques to get your work in publishable shape.
Check-in is Thursday, Oct. 4, after 2 pm. We'll have our first session at 4, and continue the conversation over dinner. On Fri- Sat., we will meet twice a day (10-12 and 2-4 pm). On Sunday we will convene over (or after) breakfast for a final meeting at 10 am. There will be plenty of time to relax, go to the beach or for walks, etc. The temps are excellent this time of year! We’ve rented a spacious house near the beach. The all-inclusive rate (except for meals) is $525 for a private room, or $425 shared. The commuter rate is $55 per day. Carpooling is available from Asheville.
