• Multiple entries are accepted. Each poem should not exceed two pages.

• Enclose legal size self-sealing SASE for critique and list of winners. Do not use Fedex, certified mail, etc.

Hard Times Writing Contest

Deadline: Postmarked by June 30, 2013. 

•  Write about a difficult experience in your life, how you overcame this obstacle, and how you were changed by it. Winning stories will be chosen for originality and creative writing style. Stories should be previously unpublished, and should not exceed 4,000 words (double-spaced, 12 point font).

• Your name, address, email and title of work should appear on a separate cover sheet. The entry fee per submission is $25 ($20 for Workshop members).

• Multiple entries are accepted.

• Enclose legal size self-sealing SASE for critique and list of winners. Do not use Fedex, certified mail, etc.

6th Annual Meet the Authors Competition
E.L. DOCTOROW and PETER MATTHIESSEN in NY

The top ten contest winners will meet National Book Award-winning authors E.L. Doctorow and Peter Matthiessen in Sag Harbor, N.Y. on September 10-13. They will have the opportunity to discuss their story with the authors, and have books autographed. The winners may also opt for 2 free online workshops, or 75 pages of their work thoroughly revised by our professional editors.In addition, ten Honorable Mentions will receive recognition.

Guidelines:

• Submit an unpublished story or chapter of a novel (fiction or creative non-fiction), of 4,500 words or less. 

• Pages should be paper clipped. Your name, address, email, phone, title and genre of work (fiction or nonfiction) should also appear on a cover sheet. Double-space; use 12 point font.

• The entry fee per submission is $30 ($25 for Workshop members). Entry fee is payable online.

• Enclose legal size self-sealing SASE for critique and list of winners. Do not send via Fedex, certified mail, etc.

• Make check or money order payable to The Writers’ Workshop, and mail to:  Authors Contest, 387 Beaucatcher Road, Asheville, NC  28805.

22nd Annual Memoirs Competition
